Houdini is helping Larkin wrap up (get it? 😅) a couple more pieces before the bazaar opens on Friday. These photos also illustrate why you should ALL solemnly double-dog swear, cross your hearts, no takesbacksies NOT to ever ever play the "find the white cat hair" game in *every* *single* *one* of Larkin's product photos. It's a terrible game, trust me.

Market Season!
product, venues, processComment<Phew> Larkin is busy re-stocking for tomorrow's first Tuesday with the Rogue Valley Growers & Crafters Market at the Ashland Armory from 8:30-1:30. Stop by the Idle Talons booth if you're in town! AND the next Royaboya Handmade Bazaar starts this Friday! Larkin is working hard on new wraps and hair sticks perfect for keeping cool this summer. It's an amazing line-up of vendors with everything from handmade eco-friendly laundry products to skin care, clothing, and fine art. Best of all, you know you're supporting small mom- and youth-owned businesses. This is a virtual market on Facebook, so join the group to get in on the fun, prizes, and amazing handmade products.
Inspiration Strikes
musings, process, product, venuesCommentSometimes inspiration comes from some pretty odd places! The lid on a storage box in the Idle Talons bedroom/workshop has a pretty little scroll on its edge and Larkin translated it into wire.
We are thinking it would make a pretty gorgeous circlet/headband! I've been (somewhat selfishly) trying to talk Larkin into expanding into hair decorations, and look! A hair stick with those same delightful curls!
Scorched copper is so pretty, but isn't practical for most jewelry since it turns people green. Another point in favor of copper hair decorations! ;) Larkin is hoping to debut a collection of these lovelies next month in the Royaboya Handmade Bazaar-- we hope to virtually see you there!
Pride Event
fun, product, venuesCommentLarkin is braving the heat (and breaking in the new banner!) at a Pride event today-- stop by to say hi if you're in the area!
A Banner!
fun, venuesCommentLarkin's next in-person market booth is going to look so professional! This will make its debut at a Pride event in Grants Pass on the 25th, then appear at the first Tuesday RVGCM at the Ashland armory. Woot!
Market Day!
venues, product, processCommentLarkin is all stocked up and ready for the first Tuesday Market in Ashland with the Rogue Valley Growers & Crafters Market tomorrow! The Idle Talons board is full of old favorites and some fun new things that you won't see anywhere else. Plus there's new collections of leaves and double-sided cabs-- come say hi if you're local!
Clearance Items!
fun, process, product, venuesCommentOne of the opportunities presented by online bazaars is the ability to present some fun pieces that never made it to be final products. There is nothing wrong with these items-- they are practice pieces, discontinued designs, or prototypes of designs Larkin later finalized.
These are Larkin's clearance boards for the upcoming Royaboya Handmade Bazaar. Join the Facebook group any time, sales start this Friday morning!
Moonstone Curls
musings, venues, productCommentLarkin's latest wrap, spring flowers edition! This purchased moonstone cab has a gorgeous blue-green-peach flash and is framed in argentium silver with a combo of weaving and fusing. The tail curls are hammered and gleaming. Perfect for spring!
Pictured (in order) with: grape hyacinth, rosemary, shooting stars, and houndstongue. This wrap will be making it's debut next Friday at the Royaboya Handmade Bazaar!
Copper Shrooms
fun, process, product, venuesCommentLarkin got distracted while making eensy weensy mushrooms and turned out a few of these merely eensy mushrooms. Each is sculpted from solid copper and are heavier than you might expect from their diminutive size!
These sweet fungus dangles will be available starting next Friday at the Royaboya Handmade Bazaar!
Market Day
venues, productCommentIt is really starting to feel like Spring here in southern Oregon! Tomorrow is Larkin's next market day at Rogue Valley Growers & Crafters Market and it promises to be beeeyootiful! Come see Idle Talons at the Ashland Armory from 8:30-1:30. :)
Moonstone Whimsy
process, product, venuesCommentLarkin wrapped this gorgeous purchased blue-flash moonstone cab in argentium silver. This design feels so magical! It will be offered first at the Idle Talons/ Dancing Beads show next week, so be sure to tune in at 7pm (Pacific time) on Tuesday if you need a little more of this kind of fanciful whimsy in your life!
Dancing Beads Trunk Show
process, product, venuesCommentFun news! Local bead shop Dancing Beads has made an amazing pandemic pivot over the last year, offering classes via zoom as well as amazing offerings through live shows on Facebook-- goods can be picked up at their local storefront or shipped. Mark your calendars, because their show on Mar. 22 will feature Idle Talons!
We anticipate that this audience will be a little different since many Dancing Beads fans make their own jewelry. Larkin is stocking up on wire charms and drilled cabs that can be incorporated into the work of others, as well as some of the finished pieces usually featured here. It will be a fun opportunity to see Idle Talons pieces in video!
So follow Dancing Beads and tune in at 7pm Mar. 22 to see Larkin and Carol talk shop and present some fun Idle Talons inventory!
All Boothed Up
venues, processCommentFrame for plexiglass display cover built and painted, test booth layout laid out... Guess we're ready for this! Locals: Idle Talons will be at RVGCM at the Ashland Armory for the very first market of the season tomorrow-- here's hoping tomorrow is as glorious as today! Hours are 8:30-1:30 and Larkin would love to see you there!
Market Season Is Upon Us!
process, product, venuesCommentLarkin is SO EXCITED to be returning to in-person markets at Rogue Valley Growers & Crafters Market this season! As in 2019, Idle Talons will be at the Ashland Armory every first Tuesday of the month from 8:30 am - 1:30 pm starting <eep!> next week. Our family did a bit of soul searching regarding safety, but RVGCM is an outdoor market and has a dedicated social distancing officer. Our experience as shoppers last year made us pretty comfortable with the level of masking and social distancing accomplished by this amazing group of organizers and vendors.
Today has been all about populating Larkin's product board-- we're loving how the cards with printing and the logo up the professional feel! First markets are always a little chilly and slow-- if you're local stop by and say hi next Tuesday!
Back To Work!
fun, musings, product, venuesComment<Whew!> Larkin and the Idle Talon minions needed a bit of a break after last weekend's extremely fun and successful bazaar! Larkin came up with these sweet little heart charms as raffle prizes-- pretty perfect for a certain upcoming holiday! ;) Each heart is constructed from a single wire, with a dot of solder at the join for reinforcement.
Mermaid Tail On Coral
musings, product, venuesCommentA mermaid tail seems especially appropriate for this wrap on a purchased fossilized coral cabochon! Larkin's copper wrap is perfectly evocative of ocean waves and finned friends-- a lovely blend of whimsical and elegant. This piece will make its debut on Friday at the Royaboya Handmade Bazaar-- hope to see you there!
Bezel Set Jasper
musings, process, product, venuesCommentThis is Larkin's second foray into bezel setting, this time in copper. Larkin cut the cheerfully asymmetric tear drop cabochon from a fabulously patterned purchased jasper slab. Larkin's style really comes through in the wirework holding it in place on back. This piece will be available at the upcoming Royaboya Handmade Bazaar-- if you haven't joined the group yet, what are you waiting for? ;) Lots of fun will be had, all while supporting small, mom- and youth-owned businesses!
Free Gift With Next Website Purchase!
product, venues, funCommentUPDATE: the free gift has been claimed. :)
Free surprise gift with the next purchase here at www.IdleTalons.com! Perhaps Larkin will make it a little something with a Valentine's theme... We are SO excited to finally have this complete set of packaging/presentation materials! Larkin's Idle Talons business cards arrived today (woot!), we have fancy schmancy boxes for wraps, fancy schmancy product cards for everything else, and a thermal printer for shipping labels! These are all shipping out today... don't *you* want some happy mail?
Royaboya Handmade Bazaar
fun, musings, product, venuesCommentLarkin has participated twice in the Royaboya Handmade Bazaar on-line market now, and it is hands-down the most fun, best run small business on-line market we've participated in (as a vendor and as shoppers!). Lots of games and prizes, you get to know the real people behind the small businesses you're supporting, there's an amazing young musician performing one evening, and more!
Larkin was thrilled to be invited back so please, if you haven't already, join the group and get in on the fun! Larkin is planning some Idle Talons goodies that will be available only at the Bazaar, including new products and live videos. Hope to see you there! :)
Owl Be Seeing You
fun, process, product, venuesCommentLarkin is still super busy over at the Royaboya Handmade Bazaar-- there's still time to join us over there! This sweet little owl is a new addition-- it popped out unexpectedly when Larkin was stocking up on honeysuckle earrings!
